Following this throwback to a seminal MCU event, a Nova-based film or series would hypothetically follow the events of the sole remaining Nova (human Richard Rider) on his journey to serve as a protector of the cosmos. A solo project based around the character of Nova could easily begin by showing the destruction via this team and the dismantling of the international police force set up in the previous Guardians films. The Nova Corp's, a facet of the MCU already introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy, home planet of Xandar was said to have been annihilated by Thanos and The Black Order before the events of Avengers: Infinity War began. The Silver Surfer's relationship with the big bad has the opportunity to be further explored via additional heralds of Galactus, such as Air-Walker, Fire-Lord, and Terrax (all of which would be formidable foes for the Guardians of the Galaxy to face in the future). This builds an interesting dynamic as the Surfer joins the team to make up for the many planets he doomed, serving Galactus as some sort of galactic penance. Before his turn to the heroics, Silver Surfer served as a herald to one of Marvel's most iconic villains in Galactus. The other notable reason Silver Surfer would fit in with the Guardians of the Galaxy is the storyline in which he would assumedly be introduced. As well, his god-like abilities would provide for a dynamic relationship between himself and the newly introduced Adam Warlock. While often associated as a solo hero, the Silver Surfer would be an ideal character to counter-balance against the zany nature of the current Guardians team, which includes the likes of Rocket Raccoon and Kraglin alongside others. Considered to be one of Stan Lee's favorite characters created, the enigmatic figure has a perfect balance of unique design choices and deep comic lore to thrive in the popular film franchise. And specifically, the Silver Surfer would be an interesting addition to the new iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy. While being host to a generally uninspired interpretation in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the titular character has ample amounts of potential to thrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. |
